Pharmacies
Your local pharmacy of today; CVS, Walgreens, Eckerds, etc. is more like a
supermarket than a drug store or pharmacy. Somewhere, off to the side or the
rear, are the pharmacists. Their incentive is to fill as many prescriptions in
their working day as possible. And, to make as few mistakes as possible, because
those mistakes could result in your failed health. Your pharmacist today is not
the guy you remember as a child. In fact, you may never see or speak with the
pharmacist who fills your prescriptions. Another loss of the personal touch. It
goes hand in hand with the loss of the personal touch with your physician.
Pharmacists work hand in glove with the pharmaceutical companies. Your
pharmacist’s motivation is to sell medications; those prescribed and those sold
over-the-counter. Your pharmacist is also at the mercy of your doctor’s
handwriting.
